    The previous lithium ion battery start to fail gradually after 12 months in costal areas.Moisture seeps in through gaps,and leads to metal accessories rust inside the lifepo4 lithium battery.The corrosion causes the failure and swollen of the lifepo4 lithium iron phosphate battery,which results in system outage of the PV plants.

    Identifying a More Reliable Battery Partner

    Understanding the Application Requirements

    Yilai Power team started to evaluate the pain points and requirements as soon as receiving the task.Differ from ordinary scenarios,PV plant devices are long-term deployed outdoors.There are even hurricanes and storms in costal areas.The humidity is over 85%,while the temperature is long-term over 30°C.In such critical conditions,it’s difficult to withstand moisture corrosion with ordinary waterproof technique.To address the issues,we established a specific technical team,defined three major objectives focusing on anti-penetration,anti-corrosion and maintaining stable performance.The core goal is to tailor an optimal and competitive solution for the customer.

    Engineering a Waterproof and Corrosion-Resistant Battery Design

    In order to achieve optimal waterproof level,Yilai Power team designed the fittest housing,used top grade material to seal the lifepo4 lithium iron phosphate battery.On the other hand,we upgraded connector to avoid moisture entering the lithium ion iron phosphate battery.

    Enhancing Safety, Thermal Protection, and Cycle Life

    Besides basic protection of over-charging,over-discharging,over-current and short circuit,Yilai Power R&D team upgrade the lithium battery with temperature protection circuit.When the temperature is over 60°C or below -20°C,the battery management system adjust the discharge rate to protect the LFP battery.

    In terms of core performance and safety protection,Yilai Power,as a professional battery company, select high rate cells,which have passed temperature cycling test,vibration test,salt spray test and other 16 tests,ensuring stable performance in critical conditions and long cycle life of over 2000 times,which cycle life is 4 times more than 18650 battery.

    Validating Performance Through Rigorous Testing

    For the purpose of verifying the reliability of the solution,Yilai Power R&D team firstly simulate moisture corrosion under high humidity through ANSYS software.After the simulation,our engineering team optimized sealing structure and started to produce samples.Then we inspected the lithium battery pack internally,including vibration test,cycling test,aging test etc.After that,we conducted IP rating test,performance tests in the third-party certification laboratory.The lithium iron phosphate battery pass the tests on the first run.

    Field Validation Results and Customer Feedback

    The samples were tested on site at the customer’s side.We have received continuous positive feedback. “Yilai Power’s batteries are much more solid than others.” “They are much better than what we have installed”.

    After a period of verification,the lithium ion batteries supplied by Yilai Power feature stable voltage,capacity retention above 98%,no rust on metal parts.
